Marestein consists of 11 cubes, linked in a stepped formation,
around an elevated courtyard. Externally, the facades are clad
with rough, dark masonry, while the inner courtyard walls are finished in white plasterwork. The glazed entrances are located
on the dark sides. The design of the courtyard, with black rubble,
a single concrete bench and an ancient, bent tree, provides absolute restfulness.
Marestein is an architectural oasis, entirely in place in the parklike surroundings of Gooise Kant.
